We are seeking a reliable and motivated Weekend Equine Veterinary Technician to support patient care and hospital operations during weekend hours.
Job Description:
As a Weekend Equine Veterinary Technician at KEAH, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care for equine patients during weekend operations. You will work closely with veterinarians and support staff to assist with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and emergency care, ensuring the well-being and comfort of hospitalized and outpatient horses.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Monitoring: Assist with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and ongoing monitoring of hospitalized and outpatient equine patients.
Emergency & Critical Care Support: Provide technical assistance during emergency and critical care cases, including monitoring vital signs and supporting patient stabilization.
Procedural Assistance: Assist veterinarians during medical procedures, imaging, and lameness evaluations as needed.
Hospital Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, stalls, and equipment; ensure proper stocking of medical supplies.
Equipment Care: Clean, maintain, and properly store medical instruments and equipment according to hospital protocols.
Qualifications:
Availability: Must be available to work the weekends
Certification: Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred; equine experience is required
Experience: Previous experience as a veterinary technician, ideally in equine or large animal practice.
Skills: Knowledge of equine anatomy and handling, strong organizational and multitasking abilities, excellent communication skills, ability to lift 50 lbs on a repetitive basis throughout the day.
