We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Equine Imaging Technician to support diagnostic services and overall hospital operations.
Job Description:
As an Equine Imaging Technician at KEAH, you will specialize in diagnostic imaging to assist veterinarians in diagnosing and treating equine health conditions. This role involves operating advanced imaging equipment, preparing and handling horses for procedures, and supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Additional hospital duties may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Imaging Procedures: Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including radiography, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, and CT as applicable; safely prepare and position horses for imaging.
Patient Care & Safety: Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures; administer sedation under veterinary direction when required.
Image Quality & Documentation: Capture high-quality diagnostic images and ensure accurate documentation within patient records.
Clinical Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians to review imaging studies and support diagnostic and treatment decisions.
Equipment & Supplies: Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of imaging equipment; maintain cleanliness and organization of imaging areas.
Hospital Support: Assist with general hospital duties as needed to support daily operations and patient care.
Communication: Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and team members regarding imaging procedures and patient status.
Qualifications:
Certification: Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred; equine experience is required.
Experience: Previous veterinary hospital experience preferred; imaging or radiology experience strongly desired.
Skills: Proficiency with diagnostic imaging equipment, strong understanding of equine anatomy, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment and handle large animals; ability to lift 50 lbs on a repetitive basis throughout the workday.
