We are seeking a motivated and dependable Equine Hospital Technician to support patient care and daily hospital operations.
Job Description:
As an Equine Hospital Technician at KEAH, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day care of hospitalized equine patients. You will work closely with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to ensure horses receive attentive, high-quality care throughout their stay in the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Monitoring: Assist with daily care of hospitalized equine patients, including treatments, monitoring vital signs, and observing patient condition.
Treatment Support: Assist veterinarians and technicians with medical treatments, diagnostics, and procedures as needed.
Horse Handling: Safely handle, restrain, and move horses for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
Hospital Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of stalls, treatment areas, and hospital facilities.
Equipment & Supply Support: Clean and maintain medical equipment and assist with stocking and organization of supplies.
Communication: Communicate effectively with the veterinary team regarding patient status and hospital needs.
Qualifications:
Certification: Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred; equine experience is required.
Experience: Previous experience as a veterinary technician, ideally in equine or large animal practice.
Skills: Strong horse-handling skills, ability to multitask, attention to detail, and effective communication.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs on a repetitive basis throughout the workday.
