VETERINARY TECHNICIAN / ASSISTANT

Greater Lansing Area (Williamston), Michigan

Equine Athlete Veterinary Services is seeking one qualified veterinary technician/assistant to join our Michigan team!

Equine Athlete Veterinary Services is a growing veterinary practice committed to providing the highest standard of care to each of our patients, whether at their farm or at a horse show. This position offers an exciting opportunity to see a large number of horses and be a part of their journey throughout every stage of their career. We prioritize teamwork, and recognize the important role every position plays in our ability to be successful.

  • This is a full-time, hourly position that is overtime-pay eligible, with employer-sponsored health insurance and 401k options available, and paid time off provided annually.

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel is essential as this position will include regular working trips to a variety of horse shows around the country throughout the year. All travel expenses are covered.

  • The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a team environment and shares the same dedication to patient and client care.

    • Each of our technicians/assistants must have excellent horse handling skills and is responsible for holding, jogging, and lunging horses for exams, preparing patients for sterile procedures, and managing inventory. Special consideration will be given to licensed technicians or candidates with experience in sports medicine.

    • We invest in some of the best sports medicine technology available, and provide a unique opportunity for growth in this position through education and training to use the equipment, including managing therapeutic treatment schedules at some of the larger horse shows we attend.

  • A typical day consists of traveling to different farms in the region, with longer days in the summer around scheduled horse shows. With our clients located throughout Michigan and surrounding regions, there will be days that may include hours in the truck traveling from one farm to another; however, we try to be as efficient as possible when scheduling and plan days around farms in similar areas.

    • Equine Athlete works closely with many large training barns; therefore, some farm calls require overnight stays in the area to efficiently evaluate while also allowing dedicated time for each patient as needed.

  • Compensation is dependent on experience, with opportunity for growth within the company. All positions within our company have the goal of a long-term relationship.

  • Temporary accommodations may be provided if relocation is required.

As a company, we invest a lot of time, effort, and resources into our clients and horses in our care. We understand the time and dedication it requires from each individual to establish a successful team, and we strive to provide a rewarding experience for everyone who shares our commitment. Not all days are easy, but we work hard to get through the challenging days together.
