Equine Athlete Veterinary Services

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Our practice, Equine Athlete Veterinary Services, is seeking applicants for a sports medicine fellowship in our Michigan-based division. An intern graduate is preferred, however with the right applicant we would consider a new graduate as an intern for a year with entry into the fellowship position the following year.

Our practice focuses on long-term relationships, with the goal being transition from a two year fellowship, to an associate, to leading a division or expanding the practice in an existing division, to partnership. Based on experience and performance this timeline can be accelerated. Considerable travel is a requirement at least through the fellowship period and then this can be tailored to the individual's interests. Our practice focuses on all aspects of management of show horses and other equine athletes at the farms and at their events, with a very large caseload of sports medicine, lameness, imaging, and orthopedic surgery.

Through our relationships with these athletes there are also opportunities for exposure to almost any other facet of equine practice. Please email office@equineathlete.pro if you are interested or would like more information on our practice.

Equine Athlete is an exclusively equine practice focusing on all health care needs of all life stages of the equine athlete. We are a mobile practice dedicated to providing excellent customer service and meeting our clients’ needs while at the farm and at the show.  We travel nationwide offering our services for pre-purchase exams, consultations on complex lameness and medical issues of the equine athlete, preparing performance horses for competition, and managing their health care at horse shows. With a combined experience of over 30 years, we insist on remaining at the cutting edge of equine sports medicine through continually advancing our education and utilizing the latest in digital diagnostic technology.  We have extensive experience with regenerative therapies including in-house stem cells, platelet rich plasma (PRP), and IRAP II, and we often combine these techniques with the elective surgical services we provide.  Our practice has 3 divisions:

  • Equine Athlete North Texas is based in Argyle and has built a reputation offering lameness, sports medicine, and elective surgical services.
  • Equine Athlete Central Michigan is based in the Greater Lansing area and offers lameness and sports medicine consultations, elective surgical services, dentistry, and reproductive care.
  • Equine Athlete Show is the division of our practice which takes care of evaluating horses around the country for sports medicine conditions, diagnosing and treating lameness, and preparing horses for competition, as well as providing care for them at regional and national level shows.
